Ok… I had the server my personal website is on updated a few weeks back. I did this because the idiots wonderful people, at Ipower increased their hosting plans without telling any of their customers that were now entitled to more storage space and bandwidth.
After the update, which was actually them moving me to a new server, I began to have trouble. FTP wouldn’t respond, and my subdomain manager wasn’t working. Finally, after about a week of dealing the idiots Wonderful people in tech support, someone finally discovered the adult website on the same server. Yup. Porn. and It’s against they’re regs, so it was removed, after about 12 hours. I’m betting they were too busy “cleaning up the server” to fix anything for the next day and a half. I think this, because at one point, I called to find out why my FTP *still* wasn’t working, and once the guy learned that this was *the server with the adult site* i got put on hold for over 25 minutes while he “investigated my issue”. I finally had to hang up and call back. Guy #2 said, “Oh yea… *that* server….. Do you mind if I put you on hold?” Um… YES! the last guy had me on hold for over 20 minutes…. “Oh. I promise I’ll check in more often then that.” Click click. *sigh*
Got the FTP working, but the subdomain manager still wasn’t working. They finally just fixed both of the exsisting subdomains on their level, that was the best they could do since they *still* don’t know what’s wrong with my subdomain manager.
Now, 2 weeks later, I go to turn all my YahooGroups back on, cuz I had them off during my move. Only I don’t get mail. at all. So I called today, because I had tried to set up subdomain #3, and it was working yet either. Well, come to find out, my server has been blacklisted by Yahoo, at least, that’s what they claim. I’m not buying it since I can send email to groups, just not receive it. But here I am, in an industry that virtually relies on YahooGroups for advertising and networking, and I’m hosed! So it seems that this idiot, running the “adult site”, has screwed up my abilities with YahooGroups. Wonderful. Oh, and what’s that you say?? It will take up to 5 days to fix?? Wonderful. Somebody stop me. I think I’m having too much fun.
Oh, and by the way… the only way I can add subdomains is to call them and make them do it for me, or have my site moved to another server, and go through all this crap again. Yea. Wonderful.
