Nothing says "I love America" like blowing stuff up

Fireworks

We had a pretty fun day yesterday. Kinda chilled out all morning & afternoon. Then, after dinner, we went down to the town wharf to check out the town celebration. It was fun… for the kids. Really, it was nice to get out of the house, and the band they had playing was pretty cool. They covered all kinds of tunes, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and today. It was cool.

First up though, we had to pay $3.00 a kid to get all three of into the bouncy pit for 5 minutes. Yup. Oh, there was also a bouncy slide they got to go down three times. Yippee! But as sarcastic as this makes me feel, they really did enjoy themselves.

When they were done bouncing, Dad took the three of them out to stake out a piece of grass for the display and mom got in line for funnel cake. An hour later, mom actually got the funnel cake, mere minutes before the display started.

Don't look at me!

Then the display. DH thought it was kinda lame, and yea… it kinda was. but take into consideration the high winds, and throw in that it was the first time we’ve ever gone to a live display on the fourth. Also, the explosives were shot off far enough away that the “BANG” wasn’t loud enough to scare the kids or anything. And, I got to try out the fireworks mode on my camera.  WooHoo!  Last year’s display was a bust due to rain, so I’ve been waiting over a year to test this out!  Yea, it really was a good time.
