Grandpa Fidel

Fidel Torres
My DH’s Grandfather. I had to do a bit of work to restore the photo. The image was a photo of the very old, cracked and faded photo on Fidel’s gravestone. To restore it, I first increased the size, then played with various filters and effects in PSPX, including the digital camera noise remover, Median Filter, Fade Correction, MakeOver Tool’s Blemish Remover, OptikVerve’s Virtual Photagrapher. Then I used brushes to burn and dodge the edges of the photo, to help hide some imperfections. I also erased the exsisting text on the tags, and wrote the text I needed on them.Journalling reads:
Born in Sonora, Mexico, Fidel ———— Torres immigrated to southern California in 1925, at the ripe old age of 17. But it would be over twenty years before his family would join him in the states.
Somehow, even though he lived and worked in the United States, and she lived in Mexico, they had three kids together before she and the kids immigrated to the states. Even though they had been together for years, Fidel and Maria weren’t married until 1951, in a small ceremony in ——–.
Fidel and Maria had 10 children together. Eventually he became a naturalized American
citizen, and retired from his job as a store clerk to live out the rest of his day in ———-, CA.
