Betrayed by Breitbart.com

“A lie will go round the world while truth is pulling its boots on.”
C. H. Spurgeon, Gems from Spurgeon (1859).

Unfortunately, that is a lesson some members of my extended family are learning the hard way. Recently, a false media narrative about a cousin of mine went viral. He was ordered to stay silent about it by his higher-ups, the thought process being that if they just ignored it, it would go away. Sadly, it will now follow him for his entire life. There are a few; people who know him, people who work with him, people close to the situation, and myself, who have begun to fight back against the lies being spread, literally across the globe. I can’t help but feel it is too little to late.

What really hurt me though, was seeing the false narrative perpetuated on Breitbart.com, in the ‘Big Journalism’ section no less! I know that Andrew would have NEVER allowed this to stand. That when confronted with the truth, he would have been first in line to shout it from the rooftops. He would have done all he could to restore a good man’s name and stem the tide of lies.

Instead, when I reach out to the author & editor of Breitbart news, I’m met with silence. It hurts. It feels like a betrayal of everything I learned from Andrew.

I miss Andrew Breitbart.
