House-hunting Woes

You know… you can only see so much in the pictures on the internet. and we all know pictures can be deceiving. Well…. yea.

As far as house-hunting goes…. yea… this weekend was a bust. Our agent is a billion trillion degrees of awesome. But….. Not a single house we saw stood out to us as a good place to bring our kids.

There was the one with the floor-to-ceiling windows in the front bedrooms. Yeah… I could sooo see the boys flashing the neighborhood with those windows.

Then there was the “Flip that House” with the huge concrete slab next to it in the middle of the yard, and the “converted garage” which was supposed to be a fourth bedroom. Yea… The floor was sloped, I mean you could have put a ball at the top of the room and it would roll to the bottom. And yea… they were obviously still “flipping” the house.

Then there was the one on the corner between 2 major roads. So not cool.

One of the better ones was the “Mosquito Factory”. Great house. Decent size. Nice backyard. View of the lake. Actually, the lake was so close, you could walk out the back fence, and be there. I don’t know about you, but I like my flesh to be smooth, and non-itchy. Not to mention my DD seems to swell like a balloon with every Mosquito bite site. Yea.

The best one we saw room-wise (it was a 5 bedroom in our $$ range), was the WORST! I mean, when we walked in, it literally looked like the house threw up. there was laundry on every floor and clutter on every surface. If you could manage to ignore the mess, you would see a pretty nice place. Three bedrooms upstairs, the Master Bedroom downstairs. The fifth bedroom was another “converted garage.” To be honest, it was hard to tell if the floor sloped or not for all the laundry and crap everywhere. Like we could barely walk in the room it was that bad. Did I mention the smell?? The “5th” bedroom had that oh so lovely gerbil smell… You know that unique smell that screams, “someone/thing pissed in here! And it hasn’t been cleaned in months!” Yea. So not cool.

*sigh*

But the weekend hasn’t been a total loss. I’ve had a great time spending some “adult” time with DH. I really needed this little getaway. It has dramatically improved my mental health and re-energized me for the coming holiday/birthday season.
