I missed the intro. Silly me, I was lovin’ on my youngun’s b4 they went to bed. So I didn’t get a chance to hit record until towards the end of Carly’s vid package.
Carly Smithson: Um. Empire waist makes everyone look pregnant. I’d love to hear the stories behind her tattoos. She is rockin’ this song. She crushes on Heart. Randy says the beginning was rough, and tries to give some actually constructive criticism. Paula is all kittens and sunshine, and glad to see Carly healthy. Simon says it was better than last week, but possible not the right song. He thinks she is the best vocalist, just needs to find “the Song.” Carly is gracious about it all, but insistent that it was her favorite song of all.
Syesha Mercado: I don’t like slow songs, they suck the energy out of a show. BUT. This girl is rockin’ “Me & Mr. Jones” ( she obviously changed the lyric a bit). Randy didn’t like it cuz she didn’t have a “belt it out song”, advising her to pick stuff that will let her use what she got, gu-url! Paula agrees with Randy, but then says she liked it. Simon hates it cuz it was written for a guy. Whatever, this girl is through to the next round. She can sing.
Brooke White: You know, beauticians often have the worst hair. IT does look way better on stage then it did in the video. I don’t like her voice when it reaching too low… That said, she seems to be in her element with the guitar in her lap. Simon is heard in the background claiming she was looking at him while singing. *S* he he he. Randy jokes about the Simon comment, and Paula agrees with him (big surprise!) and says it was a great song for her. Simon says he loved it. Surprising to me, I didn’t feel it as strong as they did. But she’s looking way better then she did last week. Obviously she was one of the sickies last week who has recovered nicely.
Ramiele gets the pimp spot. Talks about her tears at the elimination, apparently 2 of the 4 man crew got the boot.
Ramiele Malubay: She’s got the voice, she needs to learn to work the stage. She can hula, she really ought to incorporate that… at least she’d be moving. Randy says it was just OK, and not the right song, “just really ok. Keepin’ it real!” Paula agreed with Randy, and seems to be having trouble speaking. But she does praise the vocals. Simon agrees with Paula, and says last week was better. This week forgettable. He gets pissy with the crowd, and says it wasn’t her best. Girlfirend admits to being concered about the nickname “Lullabye” if she sings ballads.
Seacrest pimps the website, telling peeps to go there “for all your Randy Jackson Translations.” Yo Dawg, keepin’ it real wi’ my peepz and all. *S*
Kristy Lee Cook: She looks smoking hot this week. Ouch! Her voice just, I don’t know, cracked? Disappeared? Something, right at the big part of the song. Randy says it was better then last week, and in tune, and a good song, she needs to work on higher range, but it was good. Paula agrees with Randy. Simon say this was way better then last week, and she has potential. She was over medicated last week. Cops to being a country girl, like Simon said, and is begging America to give her a chance to prove it next week.
Amanda Overmyer: She’ll be singing classic rock. big surprise. She is no Daughtry. Whoever did her pants also did her hair apparently. Her lip curls like she’s trying to be Elvis. She’s really exposed on this song. Her dancing looks like a spasdic drunk, or the guy from AcDc that I can’t stand to watch. Sadly, she sounds best when she’s screaming. Her voice will not last. Randy agrees with me. Says it so was not right. Paula says she can dance. I’m worried for Paula’s sanity at this point. Uhoh! Paula’s stammering again. Simon says it was all contrived, it didn’t feel real, and she was in her own world with an ugly song. Paula adds she doesn’t need the big hair and makeup, Randy throws out to keep it bluesy-rock. I think she may be the one going home this week.
Alaina Whitaker: Again with the ballad. Liked the country sound though. Randy said it wasn’t a good song for her. Paula disagreed! Stop the presses!! Simon says her grandmother prepared her for this, because she was “current” enough. But he calls her one of the “dark horses” in the competition. OH!! Simon digs on Seacreest, claiming fashion is indeed his thing. Calling him out are you Simon? Seacrest says not “female fashion,” and then smacks back with Simon’s monotonous wardrobe.
Alexandrea Lushington: She sang at Ground Zero. Wow. Ok… I so can’t her at the beginning of this song. No. this just doesn’t feel right. She may well be gone after tonight. The look on her face says she knows it went badly. She even says, “it’s over”. Dude. Randy says she’s one of his favs… I think they are all his “favs”. Paula has trouble finishing sentences again, and says she liked the fresh arrangement. Simon says she’s struggling. Simon says she was inconsistent. Her Daddy didn’t look too happy.
Kady Malloy: She can sing opera. She seemed a bit shaky vocally on the stairs, but then again, you try walking down stairs in those heels without looking down… yea. didn’t think so. I think it was rough at the start and got better at the end. Randy said it was an interesting song, and that she never found the right pitch. Paula says she sounds great when she powered the note, but the lower end was week. Paula says she doesn’t know what kind of artist she is yet. Simon agrees, and says she tried to impersonate Xtina with the vocals from the back of throat. He said her packages are great! the Impressions (Britney, Cher) are dead on, the opera was fun… but on stage, she doesn’t seem to know who Kady Malloy is. Seacrest is kinda hot for the Britney voice.
Asia’h Epperson: Former Cheerleader gives it her all on AI. Dude. Total extensions. She looks good with long straight hair though. Again with the slow song though.. makes me want to fast forward really… she lost it a bit on that first “all by myself” But dude! That long note was fun. Is it just me, or did her song get cut ALOT shorter then the others?? Randy says she did good, because it was the highest degree of difficulty. Paula mentions the trouble in the low parts, but the ending brought it home. Simon says it was a Diva song and you’ve got to be one heck of a singer to pull it off, and she’s not. She almost got it, but the song was too big. Damn! Simon slaps down Seacrest – something about knowing your limitations, and Seacrest slaps back. Seacrest sneaks in that Asia’h is still really sick this week, even though the others have for the most part nicely recovered.
Seacrest once against disses Simon on the exit, thanking the other two and ignoring Simon. I think there really is bad blood there, though admittedly, it could be an act for the camera.
So… who’s getting the ax? I say Amanda Overmyer and Alexandrea Lushington. We shall see. Kat out.
“Kat out”…lmao! Great wrap up as usual.
