WFMW: Turkey Day Dinner Tip

There is one thing that I have seen my mom do every year, that I plan to do this year to help with cooking a big turkey dinner.

Labels.

Make out a list ahead of time of what you will be serving (sure hope you did this to go shopping!).  Use that list to make labels for the different pyrex and other assorted dishes you will be using to cook in.  Then the night before, have all the cooking dishes ready, and labeled.  Saves time when preparing because you’re not running in three different directions trying to find dishes and such.  It will also help when your spouse or whoever comes over and says, “What can I do to help?”   You can point to a box of frozen veggies and a dish.  “That goes there, micro for xx minutes.”

Also, wash as you cook.  Start the morning with an empty sink and dishwasher.  then as you finish using a utensil/bowl/dish rinse it out and put it into the dishwasher.  You could probably run a load of pots and pans while you’re eating dinner, so that after dinner, you just empty the dishwasher while others clear the table, and then the dinner dishes go straight into the dishwasher, again.

Hope that helps!
