Dude…

It is way too easy to find people on the internet.

I wanted to see if I could find an old friend’s phone number.  She hadn’t given it to me, but I know from her myspace blog she’s having a rough time right now.  So just for fun, I looked up her name and state on Google.

Presto.

And just to verify my result, I looked up her husband’s name and state.  Same address.  Hmm.  Guess that’s it.

Freaky.

So I looked up my own.   Sure enough.  Google has an option that lets you take your name out of their phone book, and yes, I did.  But.  It’s not that easy to get your name out of whitepages.com or reverse lookup, or any number of sites like that.

And really.  If someone is that serious about finding you, there is always Peoplefinder.  For a small fee, you can find almost anyone.  I know.  I used it to track down old classmates 2 years ago for our 10 yr non-reunion thing.  I found all but one of my 7 classmates (small private highschool).  and the one I couldn’t find, I tracked him to Boulder Colorado, where he went to school after he joined the Air Force, and then he dropped off the grid.

None of this is new information to me.  But every now and then it blows my mind how extremely easy it really is to locate people.
