a rare moment of peace

As I sit here, catching up on my blogging, my kids are playing wonderfully together in the other room.  It’s a rare moment of peace when no one is screaming, crying, etc.  (and yes, I realized I’ve just jinxed it by mentioning it.  Oh well.)

I saw a harried neighborhood mom hustling her kids down the street to catch the school bus this morning.  And while she was outside my window hollering for her kids to quit hitting each other and get their butts to the bus stop…  My kids were slowly waking up, happy & well rested.  They ate breakfast and ran off to play together while Mommy enjoys her hot chocolate and blogs.

Then it hit me.  If we weren’t homeschooling, we’d be the family on the street, yelling at kids to knock it off, stressed out already at 830 in the morning…  Our mornings wouldn’t be so laid back and peace-filled.

Wow.  Homeschooling is cool.
