Effing Ants!

I’m so sick of these little critters!  seriously! AFter finding them brazenly crawling across my kitchen floor – MY Kitchen floor, you hear that ants??  My floor!  not yours! – for the fifth time in two weeks – yes.  5 times.  in 14 days. *shudder* – I followed them back to the pantry tool room.  So I did what any sane person would do… ripped up the baseboards, and peeled back the linoleum.  Guess what I found?

Just guess…

C’mon!  Alright… This:

And while some of you more experienced Home Improvment types might be thinking… yea…  that’s ok…  let’s just zoom in a bit, shall we??   See this:

Yea.  That.  A monster sized crack running the length of the pantry/tool room.

So I took pictures.  Then I took my kids and my camera, and headed to Lowes.  God bless the people at Lowes.  They told me what to do to fill the crack, and hopefully prevent the effing ants from getting back in the house.   So I go home, and start the patch job, only to find this:

Just chillin’ in there…..  hiding under the wallboard.  Hello!  What the heck were you doing under there spidey??  certainly not your effing job!  if you were doing your effing job, the ants wouldn’t be over-running my kitchen!  AHHHH!  so I sucked this guy into the vacum along with the ants.  (yes.  I took the bag out to the trash later)

Then I used that cool foamie stuff to seal the crack.  Then I used to seal the base board back to the wall, and just about created my own quarter panel of the stuff.  I didn’t care about pretty, cuz A) it’s in the pantry, B) we’re replacing the floors, and C) I’ve got company coming this weekend….  I want to be able to put my stuff back in there without having it crawling with ants again!

So now….  I just have to deal with this:

Mt. Paperwork.

(see the empty spot?  that’s where the camera sits.)

  1. If my desk looked that good, I’d be so happy!!! Good luck with the ants ~ you’ve done a monumental job in your new home. Enjoy Easter with your mom & family.

  2. he he he…. thanks…. but this photo is *after* I cleaned it up! and anything on my desk distracts me. I have to clean up my kitchen again so I can deal with my desk before my family gets here.
