the allure of free kits….

Ok…. So I love digital scrapbooking. I got started because I wanted to preserve the memories of my ds4 childhood, but all my photos are digital. It made more sense, and costs less to scrap digitally. Lately, it seems almost everyone is a member of a design team somewhere. I’d love to be a DTM for one or two of my favorite sites… I mean, DTMs get free kits to work with! There is a downside though.

DTMs are often required to do 4 or more kits a month, sometimes a week! I barely get three layouts done a month, and there are months when I have a creative dry spell, and just can’t create for anything! Add to that when I feel “pressured” to do something, it hampers my creativity, and adds stress to my life. As a DTM you are supposed to be using the free kits as a way of promoting the website you work for, kind of a subtle advertising ploy. DTMs are also often expected to be active in forums, and run challenges, and all that jazz.

As much as I would love the free kits, I just don’t have the time to deal with all that pressure. Besides, I have sooo many kits that I have paid money for, that I haven’t managed to use yet. If I become a DTM, I won’t get to use my purchased kits because I will feel so pressured to fulfill the requirements of being a DTM, that I won’t get around to the kits I’ve bought!

It is still very tempting to see all those DTM calls.
