Alrighty. Once again that fountain of deep philosophical thought known as “the Mouth” has spoken to my heart. *S* Seriously, the women in that group are so supportive and wise. As always, it is one of Bev’s emails that seems to have sparked my desire to write tonight.
Bev wrote about a woman, who in her 80’s penned a book and went on a book tour. This elderly woman wanted other women to understand that our lives are like a pie – pick your favorite flavor, but I prefer apple! – We start dishing out little pieces of ourselves to everyone we know, spouse, kids, parents, siblings, friends, co-workers, etc… but if we aren’t careful to save a slice for ourselves, soon we are left with an empty pie plate, or a life with no meaning for us.
So that got me thinking. Where is *my* slice of the pie? Certainly I give to my kids, and my husband. My parents, my sisters, even my sister-in-law… They all get a part of me, of my attention and love. There is Angel Babies Forever Loved, but again, I am giving part of me, a very vulnerable part of me, to help others. There is my scrapping… but again, I’m working to put myself out there and try to sell my product, so in a way I am giving yet another slice of *me* to my customers. So what’s left? What do I do just for me?
I blog. *S* I know I may not post here as often as I want to. But I post. I have always loved writing. Heck, during the first year of my marriage I found it much easier for me to write my new husband a letter. Writing has always been a sort of catharsis, a way to get my thoughts straight. I love writing.
That said, there is a whole ‘nother God-Breeze, as FlyLady calls them, burning to be written about yet another topic addressed recently on “the Mouth.” All about how sex starts in the kitchen. *S* and with that teaser, I must leave you wondering. Wondering if I will ever get a chance to blog that thought! *S* Because it’s 1145pm, and my wonderful dh is cleaning the kitchen. *S*
Kay, it’s September 3rd and still no post about sex starting in the kitchen. *wink* Just discovered your blog while compiling a list for a special ‘links’ section at SBB and got sucked into your ‘life is like a pie’ post. 🙂 Also read your about me section and realized we share alot of the same interests/opinions. I’m not a military wife but definitely support them (and their families) and our president. I also am Christian, pro-life and VERY republican. 🙂 And I have no children of my own but consider myself a professional aunt to 8 earthly nieces and nephews and 1 angel nephew. Adding your blog to my internet favs so I can check in on it when I’m surfing the blogs. 🙂
Hey Auntie Pea! I finally posted it! *S* I haven’t got the book yet though…. I will have to get soon though so I can do a better blog about the topic…. *S*
