Yes, I am a week or so late. Whateva. Christmas is so awesome I can do this whenever right? Anyway, I’ve had the pictures up in my Flickr since day after, so that has to count for something, right?
So… Christmas Eve this year was just really laid back. Gramma & Nani came down to visit. Worked out really well, because I had a doctor appointment. Yes, on Christmas Eve. It was actually follow up from my surgery a few weeks past. Boils down to, the foot is doing well. A bit of soreness stil, but DUH! I had a chunk of bone cut off! So it’s all good now. WOOHOO! But, while I was at the Podiatrist’s office, Gramma & Nani were home with the kids, gettin’ their Gingerbread House on.
They actually made a cute little house. I caught this photo of it just before the kids started to devour it.
So then, we made butter cookies.
Oh, so Hawt, I know. Totally sporting the Crazy Food Lady bun, all I was missing was the hair net to go with it. But we had fun. And, we even found a game on the Wii that Gramma can play! Tetris Party. She had a blast.
We totally remembered the Reason for the season. DH read the Christmas Story before we put the kids to bed.
I was having so much fun with the camera, the kids asked for a turn, so I let them. Yup. I let my 3 year old use a good camera. His dad’s camera because there is no way in hell I’m going to give him mine mine is just too big for his little hands. So what does a three year old find worthy of documenting? One of our favorite TV specials of course.
“Small One, Small One, Small One for sale!”
Soon after the flix, we managed to get all three kids settled for the night. They have a sleep-over in one of thier rooms, for three reasons. One, it’s fun, and we don’t let them do it often. Two, with family visiting, they needed places to sleep, so it worked out great. And Three, we put the stockings (filled with little treats and small Dollar Store type toys) at the foot of each child after they are asleep. That way, when they wake up early in the AM, they can open the stockings and play with each other while Mom & Dad sleep in till 7am. No one comes out of the room before 7AM. Makes for a much more relaxed day when Mom & Dad get enough sleep.
But once we were sure that the kidlets were fast asleep, out came the gifts. And I took the traditional Tree photo, but with a new twist.
Got the idea from someone online, and sorry whoever you were, but I forgot to bookmark it! The other person had taken a photo from what looked like the top of the stairs, looking over the rail into the living room at the aftermath of Christmas. I don’t have stairs, but I have a big cut out in the wall between the kitchen and living room. A tripod on top of the kitchen cabinets gave me just the right perspective for this shot. and it was fun!
Stay tuned for part two: Christmas Day.
