Obviously, I was, and still am very against this bailout.
Oddly enough, I am at peace with the Congress’s actions. Because as it became obvious that the vote was not going to go the way I was hoping and praying it would, I felt the peace of God settle in my heart.
I don’t know why He allowed this. Maybe this is supposed to be a wake-up call for the American people. I can hope that it is.
For the record, I believe this whole “economic crisis” that isn’t, is the October surprise. Oh, and by the way, I said that before Rush Limbaugh did, so I’m not spouting talking points here. Will it hurt the Republicans? Probably. I believe Conservatives are way harder are our representatives then Liberals are. After all, the same batch of Democrats on the hill have been promising the same things for what, 50 years? Yet the Democrats keep voting them in, term after term. But then, maybe that was the point of this. The vast majority of Americans did not want this. Not Just Republicans. Not just Conservative Reaganites. The Vast Majority of the American people. We can hope & pray that this vote will lead to a shake up on Capitol Hill.
For what it’s worth, I just heard what I think is possibly the best joke about this bailout on SNL of all places. Seth Meyers on Weekend Update: “Remember that house you couldn’t pay for… you’re paying for it.”
