Easter at the "Big Park"

This whole weekend was so fun. My mom and sisters came down, and brought one of the boyfriends with them (the other one had to stay behind for work). Saturday, we woke up to snow, so plans for the “big park” were off. Middle sister was disappointed… but we went to a pet store that is more Zoo then store, and all was ok.

Easter Sunday…. We woke up, did the egg hunt thing. The kids had a blast! I’ve got photos, but…. I haven’t dl’ed them yet. After we pigged out on candy, we had a big ham dinner. By then the temp was up around 50, so we went. Yes. You read that right. 50 degrees, and we are going to a place with roller coasters. It was fun. Cold but fun.

We got there, and the sisters, the boyfriend, and I all went on a roller coaster, while Gramma (who HATES roller coasters – it’s a phobia thing) too the kidlets to one of the kiddie sized rides.

We get on this thing, and as the car starts to pull out of the station, I realized I still had my butterfly clip in my hair. Jokes were made about getting stabbed in the back of the head as I tried to untie my jacket hood, get it off, pull out the clip before we got to the top of the hill. By the time I got it out, we were about halfway up, so I tried desperately (because boy was it COLD up there!) to get the hoodie back up and get it tied into place. Accomplished just as we topped the hill, *whew*. Suck my hands back in my sleeves and down we go! One problem. We went down, the tie to my hoodie, did not. it went right into my mouth. I had to use my tongue to untie the half-knot so I get it out of my mouth!  *S*  oh yea…. lots of fun there.

Then we went on a variation of the “Dope Boat” ( you know, those giant swinging boats), and I joked about it being a good thine we didn’t eat a big dinner just before going to the park.  *S*

The second roller coaster,  I made sure I was ready.  clip out, hood tied, all set.  Then the floor dropped out.  That’s right, it was a suspended coaster…  ok.  I had on shoes that are not known for staying in place.  so yea.  by the end of the ride, my feet were cramping, but at least I still had my shoes!

It was fun though… seriously.  I think that we all may have a cold in the AM (DS6 is hacking up a lung in there, and DD4 was sniffling ALOT, and I’ve got a bit of a tickle in my throat)  But it was sooo worth it!

*and no.  I don’t have pics of the “big park” yet.  I have to wait for Gramma to email hers.  Silly me forgot the camera!

  1. Sounds like you had a blast. I love get togethers like those. For me they are few and far between. I am glad you had a terrific Easter. The kids woke up to baskets of candy (like my kids need the sugar rush) and we all got dressed up in our Sunday finest and went to church and then we went to a friends for Easter dinner. The boys and Dad went fishing with a buddy and the girls went easter egg hunting. All in all they had fun. Anywho glad to know you are happy. TTYL.
