Thanks to everyone who is praying for him.
He had an episode he couldn’t control like normal. If you’ve ever watched Without a Trace, you remember when the lead female had that heart condition…. It’s the same thing. One wall of his heart is slightly thicker than normal, which can cause blood flow problems if his heart rate goes up. He was not a good candidate for the surgery the woman on the TV show had, so he has been using medication & diet to control it. Normally, when his heart rate goes up, he can pause, and take a few deep breaths, and calm his heart rate down. Last night he couldn’t. Something was different. Usually he just passes out when his heart rate gets out of control, but last night he told mom to call 911.
The EMTs got there not a moment too late. Mom says another 2 minutes and he’d have been dead. They used the defibrillator a total of 4 times on him, and yes, he was without a pulse for a brief time. He woke up disoriented in the ambulance and had a fight with the EMTs. Pulled the tubes out of his mouth and now may have pneumonia because of his actions. He’s a fighter though. Tests show his arteries are clear, and he now has a strong heart beat. He is still on a respirator, IVs, heart monitors, the whole nine yards. Once he is stable, they will send him to another hospital which contains the best cardiac care center in the area.
Meanwhile, Mom says I don’t need to go up there right now. He’s OK for now. She will call when things change, good and bad. If I need to, it’s a 4 hour drive. I got maybe 2 hours of sleep last night, so DH is sleeping in right now so he can drive later if need be.
Thank you all…. it really means so much to me that I can log on and find such instant support. Thanks so much!
