Yup. I just spent the last week helping to move an entire household. I have about half the house completely setup already. I’ve been hefting furniture, and carrying boxes. Then last night, a toy got the better of me.
I slipped while carrying my DS5’s bike from the backyard, through the house, to the backyard. I have no idea exactly what I tripped on, because there was a multitude of little things scrattered all over the floor. Somehow, the top of my knee connected with the tile floor. We have a carpet, but it’s not very thick, and is not padded in any way shape or form, and realistically exsists soley to cut down on the echo, and make the floor not be so cold to walk on.
All I know, is that at that precise moment in time, I saw stars. Literally. I grabbed my knee, and rolled into the fetal position whilst biting my tongue to keep the expletives deleted as my children all watched me writhe in pain. But I am MOM. Mom doesn’t get to stop. So off we went to the park, Mom limping along behind the bikes the whole way.
Flash forward to 430AM, when my oldest cried out in his sleep. I went to go get him, like always, but I couldn’t move my leg. DH ran to deal with our son, while I attempted to get to the bathroom. My screams of pain brought DH running back to me to find out what happened. When I finally got to the bathroom, I saw my right knee cap was a little lower than my left, and my leg was all swollen just above my knee.
That was it…. I was in so much pain, I started talking about calling the Ambulance. I have never called the ambulance in the 3 years I’ve been here. I’ve only been in one on 3 separate occasions; our car accident in 98, medevac transport when pregnant with DS5, and Medical Transport after having DD3. So for me to say I think I need an ambulance.. yea. it’s serious.
So one ambulance ride, a couple xrays, and a pair of crutches later… Nothing is broken, thank the Lord. But I have a strained Ligament and a possible tear in the tendon just above my right knee. So I’ve got an immobilizer and a pair of crutches, and my children have learned a very valuable lesson about picking up their toys. At least for the next two hours. *S*
