Once opon a time, there was a farmer in Persia. He sold his farm and traveled the world looking riches. Never found what he was looking for, got very depressed, and killed himself. Meanwhile, the guy who bought his farm was soo hapy to own property, that this guy cherished every little blade of grass… Then one day, this guy found a dimond mine right in the backyard, literally an acre of Diamonds. He became weathly beyond his dreams.
Even the shortened version which I just gave, has enough power to change thinking, just as it did back in the 1800’s when Russell Conwell used it in his inspirational speeches. It’s the idea that until you value what you have right here in front of you, you will never become wealthy.
Notice the word is “wealthy”…. that’s important. It is totally possible to be wealthy without money. Wealth is in the eye of the beholder. I’m sure the buyer of the farm felt he was extrememly weathly because he owned a tiny little farm. The buyer was quite content to farm the land and live in peace with his family.
I’ll be honest. I’m not swimming in financial success. We get by. But I am rich in other things. I am blessed to have such a wonderful, understanding husband. I’m blessed to have three wonderful children. I am blessed to have so many people in my life who love me, and care about me. I’d say I have plenty of wealth in my backyard, diamond mine or not.
