Ah, potty training. Now just who are we fooling? My oldest DS does excellent during the day, but we’ve reached the point where he needs to learn how to control his bodily functions at night as well. So this means, that Mom (or Dad when he’s home) has to get the child out of bed a few hours after bedtime, and take him to the potty. Then again before said parent goes to bed. Otherwise, we wind up with a mountain of laundry and a nasty smelling room in the morning.
Add to this, it’s time for my DD(almost 3) to learn the fine art of using the toilet. This means, setting a timer for every hour or hour and a half, asking her, do you have to go now? “No Mommy.” Followed 5 minutes later by the inevitable, “Uh Oh! I made a Mess!” said by the child who is now standing in a puddle on my carpet. (Just two steps to the left, she’d have been on the linoleum and it would have been oh so much easier to clean up! but no! She had to be standing on the carpet… ARRRGGGHHH!).
Now I ask you… just who is it we are “training”? them? or us?
