A sphincter says wha?? Did he really just say what I think he said? That Daniel Pearl’s beheading “captured the world’s imagination“? Really? Maybe he meant “captured the world’s attention” because, I don’t think anyone who watched that video, or even heard about that video, found themselves “imagining” anything. I love Mock’s take on this over at Chicks On The Right:
But noooooooo. Obama said that Daniel Pearl’s death was “one of those moments that captured the world’s imagination because it reminded us of how valuable a free press is, and it reminded us that there are those who would go to any length in order to silence journalists around the world.” Say whaaaa? Captured our imaginations? Is he serious with this crap? I’d like him to point out ONE PERSON to me who thought (or imagined, if we’re going to use his word), when Pearl was beheaded, “Wow – that freedom of the press thing sure is valuable.” No. People weren’t thinking that. They were simply trying to process the kind of evil that they’d just witnessed. People’s emotions were still raw from dealing with the 9/11 attacks which happened just months earlier, by the same enemy (which apparently no one is allowed to mention anymore).
Seriously, go read the whole thing.
