{"id":833,"date":"2007-11-10T08:21:54","date_gmt":"2007-11-10T13:21:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.yuriar.com\/wp\/?p=833"},"modified":"2007-11-10T08:21:54","modified_gmt":"2007-11-10T13:21:54","slug":"dude","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yuriar.com\/katp\/2007\/11\/10\/dude\/","title":{"rendered":"Dude&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It is way too easy to find people on the internet.<\/p>\n<p>I wanted to see if I could find an old friend&#8217;s phone number.\u00a0 She hadn&#8217;t given it to me, but I know from her myspace blog she&#8217;s having a rough time right now.\u00a0 So just for fun, I looked up her name and state on Google.<\/p>\n<p>Presto.<\/p>\n<p>And just to verify my result, I looked up her husband&#8217;s name and state.\u00a0 Same address.\u00a0 Hmm.\u00a0 Guess that&#8217;s it.<\/p>\n<p>Freaky.<\/p>\n<p>So I looked up my own. \u00a0 Sure enough.\u00a0 Google has an option that lets you take your name out of their phone book, and yes, I did.\u00a0 But.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not that easy to get your name out of whitepages.com or reverse lookup, or any number of sites like that.<\/p>\n<p>And really.\u00a0 If someone is that serious about finding you, there is always Peoplefinder.\u00a0 For a small fee, you can find almost anyone.\u00a0 I know.\u00a0 I used it to track down old classmates 2 years ago for our 10 yr non-reunion thing.\u00a0 I found all but one of my 7 classmates (small private highschool).\u00a0 and the one I couldn&#8217;t find, I tracked him to Boulder Colorado, where he went to school after he joined the Air Force, and then he dropped off the grid.<\/p>\n<p>None of this is new information to me.\u00a0 But every now and then it blows my mind how extremely easy it really is to locate people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is way too easy to find people on the internet.
