Violating ethics charges to pay the lawyers you hired to defend you from ethics violation charges. Now that’s actually kind of funny. <\/p>\n

Charlie Rangel apparently used $393,000 of PAC money to pay his legal-defense team. This is against house rules.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This legal team is the one hired to defend him on Ethics charges.<\/p>\n

An eight-member ethics subcommittee of four Democrats and four Republicans will convene at 9 a.m. [Nov. 15, 2010] to hear the 13 charges.<\/p>\n

They include failure to disclose and pay taxes on his vacation home in the Dominican Republic; his use of a rent-regulated Harlem apartment as a campaign office; and using congressional stationery to raise money for the Rangel Center at City College.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
