Heart of the Matter<\/a> asks us today for our thoughts on the quote: “Clearly there is an appropriate kind of sheltering. When those who are opposed to homeschooling accuse me of sheltering my children, my reply is always, ‘What are you going to accuse me of next, feeding and clothing them?”<\/em> ~R.C. Sproul Jr<\/p>\n

Shelter is defined<\/a> as “protection: the condition of being protected.”\u00a0 My children are a gift from God. (Ps. 127:3<\/a>)\u00a0 God promises to provide refuge, aka shelter, for His children.\u00a0 (Prov. 14:26<\/a>)\u00a0 Can I do no less for my own children?<\/font><\/p>\n

We grown-ups need to stop putting adult problems on our children.\u00a0 There is no reason for a 7 or 8 year old child<\/em> to need s-x education.\u00a0 Children that age don’t need to be taught about “Heather’s two mommies” or anything like that.\u00a0 They need freedom to be a child<\/em>.<\/p>\n

So what if I choose to protect that kind, gentle spirit within my son, instead of throwing him to the wolves that inhabit public school.\u00a0 That’s my prerogative, nay, that’s my calling from the Lord.\u00a0 I am the mother, I am called to protect my children.\u00a0 Love them, nurture them, and keep them safe from harm, both physical and mental.<\/p>\n
