It’s been wild adventure, but all good things must come to an end. My oldest graduated several years ago. My middle child graduated last year. My youngest graduated this year.
It’s hard to believe that it’s over. Homeschooling has dominated my life for the last 16 years. This Spring-Summer is the first time in 16 years that I will not spend all my waking hours planning the upcoming school year, pouring over curriculum, and trying to make the best of what I have available to me.
It’s an odd feeling. One the one hand, whatever will I do with myself? One the other hand, none of the kids are leaving home anytime soon. The oldest is struggling his way through college. He’s in year four, but he’s got at least one more year to go. He had some problems with his chosen field, and has had to switch majors. The youngest will be attending the local community college, and commuting from home to class. And the middle one is working on some employment options. They will all still need mom, just not as a teacher.
